SUMATRA – “Sumatra Adventure” (7 Days / 6 Nights)

A journey into the wild heart of North Sumatra — encounter orangutans in their natural habitat, explore volcanic highlands, and sail across the legendary Lake Toba surrounded by ancient Batak culture.

Starting point: Medan | Ending point: Medan

Day 1 – Arrival in Medan – City Introduction
Meet your guide at Kualanamu International Airport and transfer to your hotel. Depending on arrival time, visit the Maimoon Palace, the Great Mosque, and the colorful Chinese temple. Evening free to enjoy Medan’s diverse street food scene. Overnight in Medan.

Day 2 – Medan – Bukit Lawang (Jungle Gateway)
Depart for Bukit Lawang, a charming riverside village bordering Gunung Leuser National Park. En route, stop at palm oil and rubber plantations. Arrive by afternoon and cross a small suspension bridge to your jungle lodge. Enjoy the sounds of nature and dinner by the river.

Day 3 – Orangutan Trekking in Gunung Leuser National Park
After breakfast, join your local ranger for a 3–4 hour jungle trek through tropical forest. Observe semi-wild orangutans, gibbons, and tropical birds in their natural environment. Picnic lunch in the forest before returning to the lodge for rest or optional tubing on the river.

Day 4 – Bukit Lawang – Berastagi (Volcanic Highlands)
Leave the jungle behind and head south to Berastagi, a cool mountain town located at 1,300 meters. Visit Lumbini Pagoda, local fruit markets, and the village of Lingga with traditional Karo houses. Overnight in Berastagi with views of Mount Sinabung and Mount Sibayak.

Day 5 – Berastagi – Lake Toba – Samosir Island
Drive toward Lake Toba, the world’s largest volcanic lake. Stop at Sipiso-piso waterfall and enjoy panoramic views from Pematang Purba. Continue by ferry to Samosir Island and check in to your lakeside hotel. Sunset dinner overlooking calm waters.

Day 6 – Batak Culture on Samosir Island
Full-day exploration of Samosir’s traditional Batak villages. Visit Ambarita to see ancient stone chairs, Simanindo for a cultural dance performance, and Tomok to see King Sidabutar’s tomb. Enjoy lunch by the lake and return to your hotel for relaxation.

Day 7 – Lake Toba – Medan – Departure
After breakfast, return by ferry to Parapat and drive back to Medan (about 5–6 hours). Stop at local markets or viewpoints along the way. Transfer to the airport for your flight or next destination.
